*blows party horn* it's the new year and I said I would update you on my 1920 look its not super accurate since I'm modern as f**k,the makeup wasn't horrible.I spent a lot of my time in front of the mirror getting ready for the wedding and didn't get a full meal until I got there. The wedding was on a beautiful yacht and I was really nervous due to me having motion sickness issues.Thank the lord I didn't get sick!During prayers in the ceremony I prayed please lord let me get threw the wedding with out my head in the toilet. LOL.The wedding was beautiful and the bride was hot,now on to my makeup I spend all my time on and maybe it will help you out if you are super modern like I am.I had on a blue flapper dress and all of December I rocked a blue outfit to be like a celebrity on red carpet. The flapper dress kept running up since I have a big butt and I shook my butt on the dance floor.I hope my dress was down the whole time.... This is before the wedding,I layered my eye shadows and added glitter on my eye lid since the silver wasn't being nice to me. I used the Emori pearl pallet again from the awesome secret santa exchange. Its not cruelty free since its made in China and it wont help the animals that been tested on if I throw it away.I'll use it until its gone and not buy it. I used a shimmery black and on darker skin it doesn't show up as a dark black its good for a natural smoky eye.I used the white shimmery I eye shadow to the right as a highlight under my eye brows and inner corner of my eyes.I used shimmery silver bottom left on my eye lid and it took some layering I also applied it wet for it to stay.It creased at the end of the wedding and who cares.I should have used a matte gray shadow as a base for it to say. Yes its a MAC eye shadow and I purchased it before I found out they are no longer cruelty free. Its a limited edition blue eye shadow and the shade remind me of denim jeans, its a fun blue to play with and it will look good on anyone. The eye shadow was used in the crease. My favorite black eye shadow in the world!!!NYX Cosmetics matte black and its the darkest black eye shadow if you are a dark skin tone.I tried out MAC Carbon and it wasn't dark enough for me it was used for my natural makeup.NYX is the third item I used that's currently cruelty free and I would cry if they stop being cruelty free and discounted the black shadow.I used the eye shadow in the crease with the blue eye shadow. I used the matte powder to set my liquid foundation since I don't have "finishing powder" and I have MAC and Avon products again this is before I found out they stop being nice to animals.LAMENESS! The MAC lip stick called DARK SIDE!It made me think Star Wars right away and it gives you the sexy vamp look.In the 1920 women worn dark red lip stick and this color worked out great. If I kissed your cheek at the wedding this is the lip stick I wore.=] This glitter have a lot of uses for me,I purchased this at a Halloween store and loved it since.I used the glitter on my eye lid to support the sliver eye shadow.I rolled the glitter on back of my hand and used a q-tip and dabbed the glitter on my eyes and I didn't put it on lower lid I don't want any irritation during the wedding. That's the modern make up I added. The bronzer another modern make up I added. Gotta have water proof eye liner if you want your eye liner to run down your eyes. Its new product I purchase recently and I love it!Its the deep brown corrector and the product is made for dark skin with uneven skin or dark ache scars.I put it in areas that bother me and I didn't notice it.The product said it was better with cream foundation and it worked well with liquid foundation. Its cruelty free!YIPPIE! My lovely custom blend foundation from motives that's also cruelty free. heres a video to celebrate the new year =] That is what they use to make brushes for cosmetics,if you are vegan and don't know much about makeup I bet your having a heart attack. Most of my life I used eye shadow applicators and cheap synthetic brushes cause that is what I had access to when I was allowed to wear makeup.I didn't know the difference between "natural" and synthetic brushes until my older sister Tanika gave me more exposure about cosmetics.I knew how to do my makeup well and learning from my sister made makeup application easier,I took what I learned and made it my own.As everyone been reading my blogs it also a journey of switching my makeup kit into cruelty free and vegan due to my belief because I feel its unnecessary to torture animals for cosmetics, cleaning items, etc. If we need a cure I'm ok with animals being used and it could save someones life,I know PETA will not like me and who cares they are crazy anyways. If you check out other sites and blogs they are neutral don't judge you like PETA.The only thing I like about PETA is for their huge database on cruelty free products and how to shop.Back to the brushes,I gone threw my makeup of course to see what kind of brushes I have done research and if you want cruelty free status it involves brushes and I thought I had 100 % synthetic brushes cause that's what I could afford,I didn't buy them to be cruelty free at the time it was affordable. The brushes by Face Secrets sold at Sally's Beauty Supply and I found out most of the products they carry makes PETA scream.Face Secrets and most brands use small percentage of synthetic and majority of the time they add goat hair.I have few Sephora brushes and they are 100% synthetic, the cosmetics are not cruelty free.I do have cruelty free products from Sephora since its recent they changed the status to sale in China. If you are new to reading my blog,China and Brazil(new info) require animal testing to sale products in their country,if you see cosmetics made by China and Brazil its not cruelty free.I have brushes my secret santa sent me two years ago Beaute Basics is cruelty free and I love the brushes I'm happy I have a set that is harmless. Now the controversy of "natural" aka animal fur and hair brushes, let me try to make this brief PETA claims animals such as squirrels get captured and killed during the process to get their fur.Horses are killed for their flesh and take their hair during the process,if you want more info Google PETA and cruelty free brushes. PETA have a huge following of vegetarians and vegans what they say is true,I wouldn't listen to them much cause they are extreme and dramatic about being cruelty free and you are a bad person for eating meat or using products that harm animals. There are companies and consumers claim animals weren't harmed during the process of getting their hair for brushes and sometime PETA blow things out of their a**es.There are companies out there that are good to animals and take fur without killing,if you try to tell that to a vegan its pointless, just use synthetic brushes on them and collect your money. I wouldn't trust what companies say most of the time it's a pain to do research on them,I'll use the brands I trust. If you came up to me and say you don't care about animal testing or animal fur brushes I won't be angry cause its my personal belief and you have the right to your own.The only way it will be a problem if you go around tell me my belief is dumb and your belief is right. Makeup artists' view on brushes from what I've read that annoy me.Fur brushes are the way to go and its not right cause I don't have problem with synthetic brushes. It depends on the quality and how you do makeup.Well the brushes I currently own are synthetic with fur and few sets and brushes 100% synthetic.Synthetic is good for liquids and can't hold product which is not true for me,"natural" brushes hold more product, easier to use,and gives a nice finish. So can synthetic brushes its all about quality and I didn't have problems. It depends on the artist at the end of the day and if "natural" or synthetic brushes work for you that's awesome.Don't go around telling people that one way is better and be neutral, most of us are starting out and don't have a huge budget.I like to share about budgeting when it comes to makeup cause there is someone out there that can spend below 20 bucks on cosmetics. If you don't care about animal testing and want brushes I'll help you out the best I can,if your budget is not huge your are most likely will have to buy synthetic or fur blend brushes.Plus if you have allergies and rubbing fur on your face could make it flair up,if they make brushes out of dog and car fur I would be miserable. List of brushes that have "natural" or fur blend Face Secrets sold at sally beauty supply MAC Avon Mary Kay Sephora own synthetic brushes and might have a few that are not check out vegan sites for a bigger list and if you are not sure ask if the brushes are synthetic or not.Personally I wouldn't tell a seller I want cruelty free products and what not, there are places that work on commission and don't want to lose a sell.People out there can be dishonest if they want to make a buck. Now on to cruelty free brushes E.L.F. uses synthetic taklon its a nice synthetic blend.I should give E.L.F. brushes a try then ECO Tools and they use environment friendly materials and they give back to make the environment better. Too Faced Morphe Brushes they have vegan and cruelty free options. Beaute Basics Hard Candy Urban Decay Branded J Aveda uses synthetic taklon Today I didn't feel like going threw my makeup kit and I would like to share my sisters page hair and makeup by Tanika, shes located in Vista if your close. https://www.facebook.com/tbeautybiz A funny makeup tutorial by Willam of RuPaul Drag Race Video by Yeah Yeah Yeahs"Maps" I put together a survey humor me=]
http://beautyqueenonwheels88.blogspot.com/2013/12/survey-time.html I got this pallet from my secret santa and the colors are shimmery. The colors are pretty and on dark skin tones you need primer to make the colors come to life,I did swatches on my hand without primer and it was just light shimmer. You can apply the eye shadows wet and dry,dry you get this nice shimmer and the colors are similar to MAC and Urban Decay shimmer eye shadows.Wet you get intense colors and have the metallic look.I used my favorite colors to start out with and since it was Christmas I gone for the green, browns, and golden colors,I used the white for highlight under brow.I did research to see if Emori is cruelty free and couldn't find anything,I realized I still have the packaging.I learned recently China requires animal testing in the country to sell products, that's the main reason why US companies give up their cruelty free status so they can sell in China the country have a nice market,if you can get business there you will profit. The back of the packaging said made in China and I knew my beautiful pallet is not cruelty free,it won't be used on customers that are vegan.I won't throw it out cause its not helping the bunnies referring to my other post, all I can do is not buy it again. It's hard to find products in the US that's not made in China.I'll keep using the pallet and it won't be often since I wear matte colors most of the time,if i'm going out or want to do something fun then I use the pallet.Maybe next year I'll mention I like cruelty free cosmetics and my secret santa is awesome for researching the things I love, the shadows are good quality for 6 to 15 bucks on Amazon.com. If you don't have the same beliefs and would like the pallet go to Amazon search Emori pearl eye shadow 100 colors you should be able to find it.I wore it for 7 hours and applied it wet,did not crease. The instructor at MUD is on to something about applying eye shadows wet,I like to apply it dry first to see if I like it. This is the pallet:I like the way it opens and close,it took me a min to open it lol. The colors I used on my eyes,I'll do it again if i'm going to do a pic tutorial to show what colors I used. Applied dry pretty shimmer Applied Wet intense metallic color Yes I wore green eye shadow a few times and I think green work for me.I'll try the other colors out and I know my lashes are crazy. The Video Aerosmith "Crazy" MERRY CHRISTMAS AGAIN!I didn't think I'll have time to write and I do at 5am. 2014 will be here next week and a wedding to go New Years Eve its 1920 theme,I love the 1920 Hollywood Glamour and I'm a fan of Josephine Baker and Clara Bow.My style is 1950 to modern that threw me a curve ball.Modern makeup also have some inspiration from 1920:smoky eyes and some women have their eye brows thin. I did the flapper thing for Halloween about 5 years ago and I tried to be accurate, I shaved my eye brows off left a little bit of hair to use it guide me in drawing my eye brows the same way women did.I didn't feel like covering my eye brows and it seem like a long process so I just shaved them off,it took 3 weeks to grow back. For the wedding I was thinking to myself they didn't really have much plus size women in the 1920s from the pictures and movies,If you know more info about the 1920's let me know.Back to the subject I was trying to write about,my plan is to have a bigger makeup kit and its not cheap.I watched videos, viewed blogs, and a class(I'll go to more classes in the future) so I know what to have in my kit starting out and it doesn't matter what brands I have along I can make use out of it.You will be seeing MUD,NYX Cosmetics,Wet N Wild, Coastal Scents, and Motives Cosmetics in my kit since it's in a price range I can afford and its cruelty free.If I can get artist discounts from MUD AND NYX that will be sweeeeeeeeeet if not I'll just attend more classes in LA to get discounts or go to a convention.Spending my time networking, have business cards on hand and go to makeup related events to get myself out there. My biggest thing is trying to balance roller derby and my current day job to follow my dream.I know I won't be rich being a makeup artist, right now I just want to do it as side job and see where it take me.There are a lot of makeup artists out there and I'm thinking of strategies making myself stand out.I'm trying to make my makeup kit cruelty free so I can cater to more people. If you read my previous blog"Be Kind to Bunnies" it will give you more info why I want a cruelty free makeup kit.Right now I'm volunteering and doing makeup for trade so get on it before I start charging,it won't be that much due to the brands I'll have. For long term plan is to invest in a camera and new lap top so I can do makeup videos, layaway is a beautiful thing!I'm going to share with you a list of stuff I wrote down I'll need in my kit.Maybe it will help you out too =] What to have in makeup kit and most of the stuff you can get at dollar tree or Walmart.

The Video and Music Britney Spears"Only Wish This Year" Hello and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!I hope you guys got what you wanted and enjoyed time with your family and friends.I know the majority of you never heard of Motives Cosmetics(Market America) I was on Craigslist looking for makeup related jobs and networking.I found an ad and the business is similar to Avon/Mary Kay but cruelty free.I was interested in companies that offer discounts to makeup artist or whoever is in the beauty industry,I checked out the website and it was targeting makeup artists. They have brushes, tools, all sort of makeup "professionals" could buy.I did contact the company and some dude off Craigslist he was too far,I wanted someone local.I saw a sponsored ad on Facebook called Customize Cosmetics using Motive Products and I contacted her right away. What attracted me to Motives Cosmetics is the custom blend foundation and I thought it would be perfect to have if I'm doing makeup and it will be a perfect match. After meeting up with Lida from Customize Cosmetics I thought to myself the foundation is for everyday use and buying the custom blend kit is for a makeup artist that have a lot of clients, they can sell to.Most of the time the client will wear the makeup for couple of hours or the whole day,I'm better off buying whats out in the market for cheaper price. Motives have affordable products on their website and I tried them out,I would add them to my makeup kit.I also trying out the custom blend foundation and I'm a powder person, why not give it a shot before I get for my kit.The foundation matches my skin tone perfectly and no one notices I have on makeup. Lida added a glow and anti aging to mine to bring my skin to life. The con about Custom blend: 50 bucks a bottle It last for four months due to being natural product you have to wear it daily to get the benefits. Can't sit there for a long time so you use it or trash it. Lida can make shades for really light skin tones to really dark. The Video is Eartha Kitt "Santa Baby" http://beautyqueenonwheels88.blogspot.com/2013/12/be-kind-to-bunnies.html
Click on the link and you can view the blog =] I signed up for a free class a month ago cause spots get "sold out" on Eventbrite quick. The class is about smoky eyes and that's the current trend,I wanted to go mainly to learn how to work with different skin tones and what eye shadow to use to complement someone's eyes. The number one thing is discounts on products and if you attend classes you get a good deal on products.Right now I'm working on getting discounts on MUD products so I can have more in my kit.My trip to the class was long and tiring,I left my place enough time and I know I should have been there before 12:30pm the time class starts, then I got caught in bad traffic and I didn't make it till 1pm,I had to ask the store to reconsider since I drove really far and the instructor was a sweet heart THANK GOD!I know God wanted me to go so I can follow my dreams.I enjoyed the class and I learned new tips, after the lunch break we did makeup on our self and the instructor gave us guidance.I didn't need much guidance and I asked few questions, should i use sliver as a highlight under my eye brows and does the deep brown corrector help with ache scars. The instructor knew I had knowledge in make up and the current trends such as gold and silver is used on runways right now,I had no idea it was used on runways I just knew silver and gold go well together.I made a nice impression on the class and instructor it was assurance that I should keep going for what I want and I take it seriously.I proved that just driving almost 3 hours to get to a class with traffic from hell. On the way home traffic is worst,I don't know how people can live in LA and the roads are confusing if you don't travel to LA often. What's in my makeup kit?I don't have anything to share in my purse,I have more in my makeup kit. I brought the deep brown corrector and the product is made for dark skin tones. The product even out your skin tone cause there are areas that are darker than the rest of your face.I have ache scars that annoy me and it covered it up.I had to add it to my makeup kit in case I have dark skin tones with the same problem. It comes with directions and I posted a video below to show you how its used. You only need a little bit and it will last a while. The other stuff I received with my purchase.I got a coupon with additional 40% off and 10 % off of MUD approved items.I got 30% off just doing the class I paid 12 bucks instead of 20 bucks. This is not a music video is usually post but here is how to use the deep brown corrector. |
